Starcrossed Chapters was founded by Fern Cole, the author of Starfallen. Fern strongly believes that 2026 is the year of indie authors and made it her mission to help them shine.

 

There’s a misunderstanding that if books aren’t traditionally published, then they’re not good enough. This couldn’t be further from the truth.​ Some indie authors chose to self-publish because they would like to have the creative control over their work, and don’t wish to go through the long and daunting process of querying for an agent.

 

Fern was one of those authors who didn’t want to wait and go through it all, and she has come to notice that there’re tons of hidden gems in the indie community, and just because they’re not on shelves at Waterstones or B&N, doesn’t mean they aren’t good enough, or don’t deserve to be championed.

And so, Starcrossed Chapters was born.​

 

Made by an indie author, we offer services to support authors in their indie debut journey, and a subscription service that sends you, kind readers, a blind date book from an indie author every month.​

 

Now, we're going to be honest: indie books are not cheap.

 

If we set our paperback prices at £10 like trad books are, chances are we get less than £1 in royalties... yep. However, we will try our best to keep the cost low, so that you can keep supporting indie authors. ♥️
